3-Layer Laboratory Extruder for R&D, Bioplastics and Multilayer Film Testing

The LabEx 25-3 produces co-extruded blown films in small batches: develop and test multilayer film structures, evaluate material combinations, and optimise co-extrusion process parameters — simulating real production conditions with low material use and quick changeovers.

Designed for multilayer film development

Three independent extruders feeding a common die head, so you can test different layer ratios and structures in real production conditions.

Full control over each layer

Each extruder has its own motor, hopper, heating zones and temperature control. Run virgin PE in the skins and recycled material or EVOH in the core, and adjust every layer independently.

Made for testing and development

Test new plastic types, bioplastics, recycled materials and additives in real film production conditions, before committing the production line.

Minimal material waste

Evaluate multilayer structures with just a few kilograms per layer, without occupying your production line. Quick changeovers for frequent tests.

Touchscreen control

All three extruders, the die head and the take-off are operated from one 12-inch Schneider Electric touchscreen, clear and easy even without co-extrusion experience.

Compact and ready to run

A complete co-extrusion line on wheels. No special foundation or installation — connect the power supply and set up your first 3-layer test.

Extrusion
  • Extruder screws3 × 25 mm diameter, L/D 28:1. All-around versatile barrier screws with integrated mixing section for good melting, stable throughput and improved dispersion of colour and additives. Suitable for most PE materials — virgin, recycled and bio-based.
  • Barrels3 barrels in high-quality nitrided steel, available with smooth or grooved feed zone. Built for durability, consistent performance and long service life.
  • Die head3-layer die head in PM 300 steel (DIN 1.2379), hard chrome or PVD treated for long service life and smooth melt flow. Die inserts Ø25-70 mm; delivered with a Ø40 mm die as standard, other sizes on request.
  • Temperature controlCeramic heater bands, 18 heating zones, PLC controlled.
Die & film line
  • Air ringHigh-efficiency air ring for bubble cooling: uniform 360° air flow with adjustable air volume for precise cooling control. Film widths 50-300 mm.
  • Calibrating basketAdjustable arms and rollers for precise bubble stabilisation.
  • A-frame & take-offA-frame with rollers for additional cooling and smooth film guidance; take-off with nip rollers, tension control and easy open/close threading.
  • WinderStandard non-contact winder with AC inverter control for tension and winding speed, and an air-expanding shaft for easy roll change. Contact and double-shaft winders available.

  • ControlOne 12-inch Schneider Electric touchscreen for all three extruders, the die head and the take-off.

Materials you can test

Run different materials in each layer at the same time — for example virgin PE in the skins and recycled material or EVOH in the core.

Barrier structures with PA and EVOH are supported when the line is configured for these applications.
